Competitive swimming is a lifetime sport from the youngest Novice to the Senior swimmers. Masters Swimming provides an ongoing venue for competition for ages 19 through 100+. Swimmers enjoy the fun and friendships of belonging to a team in an atmosphere dedicated to productive training and physical fitness. As swimmers progress, they learn the lifetime skills of goal-setting, teamwork, time management, and the value of discipline and hard work.
As an individual sport, swimmers are matched by age and ability for meaningful and rewarding experiences. All levels of athletes can participate and benefit from the positive challenge of competition.
Opportunities exist for swimmers for college scholarships, national-level competition, and more. El Segundo athletes and alumni have competed in all levels of competition including the Olympic Trials.
United States Swimming, Inc. (USS) is the governing body of this Olympic sport. Adult swimmers are provided a competition venue through United States Masters Swimming (USMS).
